This Accounting Manager position is with a globally recognized logistics provider located in the Mississauga/Brampton general area.
General Duties:
Reporting to the Director, Finance & Accounting, the Accounting Manager manages and oversees all accounting functions within the Company. They will possess and apply strong leadership skills to determine the direction, goals and tactical action plans/initiatives of the accounting department.
Responsibilities Summary:
- ✔ Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:
- ✔ month and end-year close process and related financial reporting.
- ✔ Support billing/ accounts payable/receivable/payroll functions as needed.
- ✔ Approve monthly Bank Reconciliation.
- ✔ maintenance of the General Ledger.
- ✔ revenue and expenditure variance analysis.
- ✔ Prepare capital assets reconciliations and track capital spend.
- ✔ Subledger (AP, AR, and Cash Book) reconciliations.
- ✔ check runs, EFT and wire transfers.
- ✔ Payroll (includes the co-design and implementation of the Corporate Bonus Program and calculating entitlement and payout).
- ✔ Sales Commission Program (includes the co-design and implementation of the Program and generating accurate reports to ensure timely calculation and payout of commissions.
- ● Maintains, updates and improves all Accounting procedures, policies and processes and initiates corrective actions while adhering to proper accounting methods, policies and principles (i.e., GAAP).
- ● Monitors and analyzes accounting data and produces financial reports or statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- ● Coordinates the completion of the financial consolidation package to GHQ, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all deadlines.
- ● Coordinates and executes the development of the Annual Budget and quarterly Forecast.
- ● Maintains financial security of the Company by establishing internal controls.
- ● Avoids legal challenges by understanding current and proposed legislation, enforcing accounting regulations, and recommending new procedures.
- ● Daily approval of outgoing payments and weekly cheque run review/approval.
- ● Establishes and maintains fiscal files and records to document transactions.
- ● Sets up and monitors accounting KPIs and meets finance and accounting objectives.
- ● Works with internal and/or external auditors to coordinate and complete audits of the organization’s financial records and statements.
- ● Oversees Purchasing by reviewing, evaluating, and approving specifications for awarding bids.
- ● Oversees the maintenance of inventory/depreciation of all fixed assets (Laptops, printers, computers, etc.).
- ● Maintains appropriate operation insurance coverage for the business (Freight Forward Insurance, Building Insurance, Auto Insurance, etc.).
- ● Special projects as assigned.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS (MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting.
- ● Current, professional accounting designation (CGA, CA, CMA or CPA), or final stage of CPA.
- ● Minimum 7 years previous experience as a Finance and/or Accounting Manager.
- ● Minimum 7 years demonstrated experience fostering teamwork and effectively managing a high-performance team.
- ● Full understanding and knowledge of aaccounting principles, practices, standards, laws, and regulations (e.g., GAAP).
- ● Excellent business acumen and sound knowledge of strategic planning, direction, and execution.
- ● Mathematical, statistical, and accounting skills with natural ability to problem solve.
- ● Tech savvy and fully proficient with computer technology, especially Microsoft Office Tools (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet Browser). Advanced in Excel and knowledge of SYSPRO or other financial accounting software.
- ● Excellent written and verbal business communication skills including solid skills in conducting professional presentations from executives to employees.
- ● Excellent organizational, interpersonal and people management skills especially in assisting others in financial interpretation of complex reports.

Pay: $90,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
