Our client is a leading transportation and logistics organization operating across Eastern Canada and the Northeastern United States. With a large and diverse fleet, they are recognized for their commitment to operational excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.
As part of their continued growth, they are seeking an Asset & Maintenance Manager to lead fleet asset strategy, maintenance planning, and lifecycle management. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an analytical and commercially minded operations professional who is passionate about maximizing asset performance and driving long-term value.
The successful candidate will oversee a team of maintenance planners and schedulers, manage a multi-million-dollar maintenance and capital budget, and play a key role in shaping the future asset strategy of the organization. This role offers a clear pathway toward future senior leadership opportunities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the organization's fleet asset management strategy, including lifecycle planning, capital investments, and asset optimization initiatives.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of fleet assets, including acquisition, maintenance, leasing, rebuild programs, utilization management, and disposal.
- Manage a maintenance and capital budget exceeding $2M, leveraging data and KPIs to drive cost savings, operational efficiency, and informed decision-making.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance planners and schedulers while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor key performance metrics including cost per mile, maintenance spend, asset utilization, capital efficiency, and fleet reliability.
- Manage relationships with vendors, maintenance providers, leasing partners, and internal stakeholders to maximize asset performance and operational effectiveness.
- Ensure compliance with transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies while championing best practices across fleet operations.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in asset management, fleet management, maintenance management, or related operational leadership roles
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing teams within transportation, logistics, fleet, industrial, energy, or related environments
- Experience managing maintenance budgets, capital expenditures, and operational P&L responsibilities
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to leverage operational data and KPIs to drive decision-making
- Strong negotiation, vendor management, and stakeholder relationship skills
- Excellent communication skills with the executive presence to effectively engage senior leadership teams
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Commerce, Business, Operations, or a related field
- Willingness to relocate to or reside in New Brunswick.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Experience within the trucking, transportation, fleet, oil & gas, or heavy equipment industries
- Exposure to transportation maintenance management systems (TMT experience considered a strong asset)
- Experience leading fleet lifecycle planning and asset replacement strategies
- Bilingualism (English/French)
