Job Description
The Senior Manager, Learning & Organizational Development reports to the Director, Organization Development and provides leadership for enterprise-wide learning, establishing and implementing a change management discipline to support transformation across the organization, and partners on organizational development initiatives that enable a high-performance culture. The Senior Manager provides strategic direction, establishes priorities, and ensures all initiatives are aligned with organizational priorities.
The role leads a team including Learning Specialists responsible for instructional design, and an Organizational Development Specialist responsible for planning and supporting the implementation of organizational development initiatives and projects. Working collaboratively with the Senior Manager, Leadership Development and Engagement, this role also supports facilitation of leadership development sessions and helps build organizational capability at all levels by maximizing adoption, application, and impact.
The successful candidate is an accomplished and experienced organizational development leader who combines strong collaboration, learning strategy and design, change management, facilitation and coaching capabilities, and a highly practical approach, to contribute to the Organization Development mandate to build and sustain a high-performance culture.
This role will be based at our head office in Markham Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Build trusted relationships with leaders and learning partners across the organization to identify current and future capability needs through effective consultation and learning needs analysis.
Work with learning partners across the business to establish learning priorities that effectively enable organizational strategic objectives, operational excellence, compliance requirements, quality standards, and capability building.
Oversee the development and implementation of strong learning solutions, including e-learning and blended learning along with resources and performance support tools, relevant to the learner context.
Lead the team to optimize learning technologies for modernization and foster innovation and continuous improvement in design, delivery, and measurement.
Evaluate outcomes and use insights to champion a culture of continuous learning that supports employee growth, agility, and operational excellence across the organization.
Establish a change management discipline and support organizational initiatives by integrating practical change management and communication strategies into organizational transformation and continuous improvement efforts.
Provide leadership on stakeholder assessments, impact analyses, readiness evaluations, and adoption planning for large scale change.
Coach leaders on communication approaches that build understanding, engagement, and readiness during periods of organizational change.
Serve as a collaborative thought partner on learning and organizational development initiatives and oversee effective project management including planning, prioritization, execution, communication and evaluation.
Partner closely with the Senior Manager, Leadership Development to support the integration of leadership development practices into broader organizational and talent strategies. Supports facilitation of leadership development sessions for leaders at various levels as needed.
Lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for learning design, development, and program execution.
Provide direction on learning projects, manage vendor relationships, budgets, and resource planning
Empower the Organizational Development Specialist to successfully manage organizational development project plans, timelines, stakeholder coordination, and implementation activities while providing oversight and removing barriers to success.
What you bring to the role:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Adult Education, Business, Psychology or a related field.
Professional training or certification in Change Management, Facilitation, Adult Learning and/or Coaching is considered a strong asset.
8+ years of progressive leadership experience in Learning & Development, Organizational Development, Change Management, or related disciplines.
Demonstrated success serving as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and partners across the organization on challenging and complex change and organizational initiatives
Experience leading enterprise learning and development design and delivery
Exceptional facilitator with proven results in driving strong learning engagement and experience for broad range of audiences, leadership levels, and format
Strong business partnership experience encompassing a multi-disciplinary scope with demonstrated influencing skills at all levels of the organization.
Track record as a strong leader with high team engagement, committed to growth and development of team to achieve excellence within a high trust environment.
