Drafting Coordinator:
The successful Drafting Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Client and Technical Leads in producing complete and accurate drawing packages for client review and final approval.
The applicants selected for the positions will be responsible for the following:
· Lead the design of oil and gas facility, pipeline and Industrial projects.
· Complete site visits for equipment as-building, project scoping, and construction support.
· Take ownership on in-house software and continuous improvement of design processes.
· Review Designer’s work with great attention to detail to check for drawing and design standards, while articulating critique in a constructive and amiable manner.
· Take concepts and ideas from meetings, discussions and field visits, visualize them, and direct Designers to create drawing packages for clients review and approval.
· Oversee engineering design, specifications and drawings.
· Must be able to program and customize AutoCad and third-party drafting software.
· Must be able to create isometrics, General Arrangement, P&ID’s, plot plans, PFD’s, piping models, and structural details.
· Must be able to create and modify databases such as lists and tables.
· Ensure deadlines are met with precision and accuracy.
· Enter and release projects at different stages based on workload requirements.
· Act as liaison between Designers and Project Managers.
· Provide project updates for weekly staff meetings and submit weekly project reports.
· Delegate drafting tasks and schedule deadlines based on workload and client’s needs.
· Regularly inspect drawings and templates for quality control.
· Create and maintain drawing templates and block libraries.
· Perform document control duties and accurately record project data in a time sensitive manner.
· Train new mechanical and structural Designers.
· Write procedures and training manuals needed to maintain standards and quality.
· Other tasks as assigned by the FEL Leadership.
· Knowing and understanding customer’s needs and requirements as outlined in scope documents, DBM’s, Facilities Reports and weekly project meetings.
· Provide critique on all project deliverables through the IFA to IFC stages.
· Coordinate with internal support groups to meet project requirements.
Skills/Experience:
· Asset to hold diploma in Mechanical/Civil/Chemical/Petroleum Engineering/Piping Design
· 5+ years experience as a designer/Drafter with Piping, Plant, Structural Design
· Proven ability to lead and manage design projects in a team
· Experience with Reality Capture and Point cloud modelling considered a strong asset.
· Confidence reading and redlining P&ID, PFD, and structural packages
· Employee or contractor status will be considered for this role.
· Handles timeline pressure well
· Strong coaching and mentorship skills
· Good communication skills
