AUSCAN Medical is seeking a highly skilled, autonomous Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide comprehensive medical leadership and day-to-day clinic management at one of our remote camp facilities. Operating on a balanced 2-week on, 2-week off rotation, you will serve as the site’s primary medical authority, leading a multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing, and EMS professionals.
This role bridges the gap between emergency response, occupational health, and primary clinical care. You will act as the principal liaison between AUSCAN, the project owner’s representatives, prime contractors, and regional healthcare bodies (including WCB/WSIB). Travel to and from the site is fully provided.
- Initial emergency response, resuscitation, and stabilization of critically ill or injured patients
- Primary outpatient care, i.e. treatment of non-emergency medical conditions
- General health and hygiene promotion including regular inspections of on-site catering, accommodation areas
- Site Occupational Health
- Following the initial stabilization and treatment of all Occupational injuries/illness (OII), the provision of tracking, monitoring, case management, validation, and coordination of all ongoing OII related care and/or treatment
- Mandatory injury illness follow-up
- Fitness for work, post incident assessments
- Direct and supervises the regular review and update of site clinical operation and medical procedures, with the support of the Medical Director
- Ensures that all procedures, policies, and company information are maintained to the latest date issued in accordance with the continuous quality improvement policy
- Act as mentor to staff and demonstrate professional behaviour and respect at all times
- Act as a subject matter expert for all site level HSE Proactive Notifications (In conjunction with the Medical Director)
- Ensure that the clinical services delivered by all Medical, Nursing, Paramedical and Ancillary staff within the clinic are of the highest professional level, to international practice standards and are accurately recorded and maintained to legislated practices global standards (whichever is deemed higher)
- Ensure that all staff working for the project are trained and qualified to provide effective and professional support to patients
- Responsible for organizing and coordinating training program for our staff
- Review and control of medications and consumables requests
- Coordination of delivery of medications/consumables/equipment to the sites.
- Coordination of offsite second opinions and non-tertiary care or treatment – preventative and investigative diagnostics, massage therapy, rehabilitation, and consults
- Coordination of site level Industrial First Aid and OSHA/AOHSA training
- Part of the team with the Medical Director to be the interface with Local and Regional Health community, Workplace Health, and Safety, and WCB/WSIB as required
- Nurse Practitioner will be the main liaison with Owner designate and prime contractors on site
- Ensure that all Site Based Clinic facilities are maintained to an operational standard of professional excellence, including staffing, equipment, and client support services
- Work with site based staff and project owner's representatives to ensure the smooth and efficient service delivery of the medical program
- Hold meetings of medical, nursing and EMS staff to report on and discuss issues relating to the operation and improvement of the Clinic services and activities onsite
- Ensuring an open, culturally sensitive environment to facilitate free flow of ideas from the various clinic team members
- Properly maintain confidential custody of all documents and records related to patient care
- Ensure written reports are provided to the client in a timely manner.
- Support worker wellness programs
- Administrative Duties, including monthly reporting and trending.
