Marine Construction Design Assistant (Student Opportunity)
EcoBillet Solutions Ltd. is looking for a motivated student with AutoCAD experience to assist with drafting marine construction drawings on a flexible, project-by-project basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a student in Engineering Technology, Architectural Technology, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Design, or a related drafting program who is looking to gain practical industry experience while earning extra income.
About the Role
You will work directly with our company founder, who has over 40 years of experience in the marine construction industry. Using hand sketches, photographs, dimensions, and design concepts, you will prepare professional AutoCAD drawings for real marine construction projects throughout British Columbia.
Projects may include:
- Floating docks
- Timber wharves and piers
- Boardwalks
- Access ramps
- Marine structures
- Custom flotation systems
Responsibilities
- Produce AutoCAD drawings from hand sketches and marked-up PDFs.
- Revise drawings based on feedback.
- Prepare clean PDF drawings for client review.
- Maintain organized drawing files.
Qualifications
- Current student or recent graduate in:
- Engineering Technology
- Civil Engineering Technology
- Architectural Technology
- Drafting/CAD Technology
- Mechanical Design
- Or a related program.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret sketches and measurements.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines.
Marine construction experience is not required. We are happy to teach the industry-specific aspects of our work.
Compensation
This is a flexible, project-based opportunity.
Assignments will be paid based on the complexity and scope of each drawing rather than by hourly time. Compensation will be discussed before each assignment.
