Summary
This Disassembly Tech/Mechanic dismantles off-road agricultural and construction equipment and/or processes used inventory coming in by way of storage and dismantling units for sale. Completes jobs that are assigned by management in an effort to cross-train in various departments and tasks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs testing of equipment coming in for salvage.
- Performs maintenance of yard equipment.
- Receives, tests and dismantles off-road construction and agricultural equipment or tractors, attachments, and light industrial units as directed.
- Operational assessment and testing of variety of agricultural and industrial equipment.
- Prep units and park as per salvage parking process.
- Ability to read and decipher parts diagrams, and remove parts safely and efficiently.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to determine quality issues on parts being removed and communicate with team
- Remove all fast-moving parts from individual machines, identify and store in the appropriate place.
- Assist customers in locating parts in yard.
- Ability to recognize which parts can be sold individually and which parts are kept as a “kit”.
- Transfers parts to the proper storage area via forklift or other yard equipment.
- Responsible for basic facility maintenance.
- Follows all safety protocols and policies.
- Operates yard truck safely and respectfully
- Maintains a clean work area and company tools.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Complies with the requirements of the company’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System (when required).
Required Education/Experience/Skills
- High School graduate, or equivalent work experience.
- Must be able to read and write English proficiently.
- Must have experience with hand tools
- Proven experience, particularly within the agriculture and construction parts sectors, preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge is an asset.
- Experience operating equipment is required.
- Experience with agricultural/industrial equipment, preferred.
- Able to do general maintenance and repairs on agricultural and industrial equipment.
- Ability to understand the layout of machine and engine assemblies.
- Ability to multitask and use multiple tools (hand tools, torches, air tools from small handheld grinders to large 1” impact guns and more).
- Ability to problem solve; think on your feet within the scope of your position – independent worker.
- Ability to process paperwork in a quick, efficient, and sensitive manner.
- Ability to handle information, company, customer, and co-worker, information with sensitivity.
Certifications, Licensees or Registrations Required/Preferred
· Certified Forklift Operator Certificate, helpful.
