Description du poste
Primary Responsibilities
Yard Access Control
Monitors the buzzer and grant access to trailers and vans entering the yard.
All carriers vehicles that have business at UPS are allowed entry in timely manner and are directed to appropriate dock doors.
Know which dock doors correspond to what account / client / team, based on information provided by driver.
Proactively monitor yard traffic and activity to ensure safety and security, and performs safety and security checks and inspections for trucks and dock doors systems
Yard and Driver oversight
Proactively monitor yard traffic and activity to ensure safety and security.
Manage trailers stored in the yard. Perform trailer inspections, locking / unlocking and other tasks as needed.
- Job Type: Full-time – Permanent, On-site position
- Workdays: Monday to Friday (must be able to work all 5 days of the week)
- Shift Hours: 40 hours per week
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- Shift Duration: 8 hours per day (requires flexibility with start and finish times)
- Work Location: 399 GLOVER ROAD, HANNON, ON L0R 1P0, Canada
- Compensation: 19.42$ CAD per hour

Any unplanned deliveries or pickups are added to Dispatch Log in timely manner.
Coordination with Operations Teams
OUTBOUND
Dispatcher is expected to be aware of all scheduled pickup appointments for the day and must direct carriers to the appropriate dock upon arrival.
The Dispatcher must enforce strict Health & Safety protocols at dock doors. Staff may only access the truck once it is locked, immobilized, and the driver is in the dispatch office. Conversely, the driver must not be released until all staff access to the truck is blocked.
Upon any carrier’s arrival, the Dispatcher must check with all operations teams to confirm if they have loads scheduled with that carrier.
If an additional switch is needed in advance, the Dispatcher should coordinate with relevant teams proactively.
The dispatcher communicates daily with accountants regarding small package requirements and coordinates with carriers to request and schedule additional pickups as needed, based on forecasted capacity.
Dispatcher is expected to support cross dock operation for some accounts, including sorting shipments on a containers, organizing shipments for carriers and pickups and creating shipping labels for small parcel shipments.
Communication and Contacts
Support Loading & Offloading
The Dispatcher is expected to assist with trailer loading and offloading.
The Dispatcher may also support by transferring pallets from Account Zones to Staging Zones and preparing them for loading before the carrier arrives.
INBOUND
Dispatcher is expected to know what delivery appointments are booked for the day and direct the carriers to appropriate docks whenever they may arrive.
The Dispatcher must ensure that both the carrier driver and the Receiving Team have successfully connected and acknowledged each other before moving on to the next task.
PARCELS
Dispatcher to load / unload all parcel shipments including but not limited to UPS, FedEx, Purolator, DHL, Canada Post.
Since, parcels deliveries may contain items for multiple accounts or individuals, The dispatcher must securely store the parcels and notify the appropriate teams and/or individuals to collect their items.
Other Considerations
Ensure Dispatch Log is always current and ensures information completeness and accuracy. Double-check all appointments and dock assignments to avoid conflicts and bottlenecks.
Maintain open communication with all team leads / designated personnel from each team and shift to stay aware of any last-minute changes.
Support management by providing inputs for capacity planning and performance monitoring.
Ensure dispatch operation meets and exceeds quality, productivity and KPIs benchmarks set.
Analytical thinking and problem solving.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or international equivalent (preferred)
Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office
Experience with CargoWise is an asset
Experience with WorldShip is an asset
Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is an asset
