Position in Barrie, Ontario - Monday-Friday 7:00 A.M- 3:00 PM (Day Shift)
We are looking for a skilled individual to join our team as an Electrician. The role involves diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical issues, performing preventive maintenance on machinery, and maintaining accurate records.
Requirements
We are looking for a candidate who possesses:
- Licensed Industrial Electrician (442A or 309A) Journeyman
- High School Diploma/GED
- 3+ Years working in a Canadian industrial environment (Plastic Extrusion).
- Excellent troubleshooting skill on various industrial, hydraulic, Pneumatic industrial machines
- Demonstrate mechanical/electrical and technical aptitude
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and shop drawings
- Little or no supervisor assistance is required
- Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, climb, reach and lift up to 40 lbs
- Ability to read and write English and perform basic math problems
- Basic computer knowledge to complete data entry
- Obtain and maintain current certification to operate powered industrial equipment such as forklift, side-loader, 4-directional lift, and scissor lift.
- This position requires the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship or immigration restrictions.
Duties and Responsibilities
A typical day may include:
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical, mechanical, and similar problems on machinery/equipment and perform timely repairs on all equipment
- Establish appropriate frequency and perform regular preventive maintenance activities on all machinery/equipment in the facility
- Perform timely facility/building maintenance and minor repairs on electrical, and maintain a clean and safe work area
- Dismantle defective machines/equipment and install new or repaired equipment
- Ability to perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment, including PLC and motor controls, safety sensors and relays.
- Tuning equipment and ensuring that adequate controls and safety measures are functional
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting electronics system faults
- Maintain accurate records of all inspections, tests, and repairs
- Coordinate and make recommendations on work-related contracts and services
- Collaborate with outside contractors when needed for electrical repairs and maintenance
- Participate, support, and comply with all health, safety, quality, and Lean initiatives and requirements
- Complete all job duties in a manner that does not put him/herself or other individuals in an unsafe situation and wear all PPE (personal protective equipment) when required
- Assist in any duties to support the operations, as requested by supervisor or manager
- Prepare and provide reports as required by Supervisor.
Develop standard operating procedures and preventative maintenance plans
