About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Clinic Technician to join our busy and growing practice. This role is ideal for someone with previous optometry or ophthalmology experience who enjoys working directly with patients, operating advanced diagnostic equipment, and contributing to a positive patient experience.
The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, technically inclined, and comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining a high standard of patient care and professionalism.
Responsibilities
- Collect and accurately document patient medical histories
- Perform diagnostic and pre-testing procedures as directed by the Optometrists
- Capture and record diagnostic images and measurements using specialized equipment
- Prepare, sanitize, and maintain examination rooms and testing areas
- Schedule appointments and assist with administrative duties as needed
- Support patient flow throughout the clinic and ensure a positive patient experience
- Maintain, clean, troubleshoot, and perform basic upkeep of clinical instruments
- Ensure patient records are handled with confidentiality and discretion
- Work collaboratively with doctors and team members to provide exceptional care
Required Experience & Equipment Knowledge
Candidates should have hands-on experience with the following:
- TOPCON Maestro 2 (OCT)
- TOPCON TRK-2P (Autorefractor / 4-in-1)
- OPTOS Optomap Monaco (preferred) or OPTOS Optomap Daytona
- ZEISS Humphrey Field Analyzer II (Visual Fields)
Preferred
- TOPCON MYAH
- iCare Tonometer
- VisualEyes EMR
Technical Knowledge
Candidates should have a strong understanding of:
- Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
- Myopia and myopia management
- Intraocular Pressure (IOP)
- Diagnostic imaging and retinal health assessments
- The functions of the TOPCON TRK-2P, including:
- Autorefraction
- Keratometry
- Tonometry
- Pachymetry
- Visual Field testing, including glaucoma screening
- Optomap imaging, including Red & Green (R&G) and Multimode imaging
Experience with line scans, raster scans, optic nerve head scans, advanced visual field protocols (24-2, 30-2), and eyelid testing is considered a strong asset.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in an Optometry or Ophthalmology clinic
- Strong understanding of patient confidentiality and medical record management
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
- Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn new technologies
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities
- Positive attitude and strong team mentality

- TOPCON University training or workshops
- Canadian Certified Optometric Assistant (CCOA) designation
Schedule
- Full-time hours
- Monday to Wednesday evenings (until 7:00 PM)
- Saturday availability required
- Flexible days off (Thursday and/or Friday)
Compensation & Benefits
- $19.00 – $24.00 per hour, based on experience
