Our Service Department supports a diverse portfolio of commercial and institutional clients with responsive, technically excellent HVAC/R maintenance and repair. What You Will Be Responsible For
This role is the primary technical resource for a dedicated commercial service route. You will own service calls from dispatch through close-out: diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and documenting. You will work across occupied facilities and active construction sites, representing MeadowBrook directly with building operators and facility managers.
Service & Maintenance

Respond to scheduled and emergency service calls across commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities in the GTA.

Install, start up, commission, service, repair, and verify HVAC/R systems and components.

Execute preventive maintenance programs; identify deficiencies and propose corrective actions before they become failures.

Troubleshoot and repair commercial refrigeration racks, walk-in coolers, freezers, rooftop units, split systems, and multi-zone HVAC systems.

Measure, cut, thread, bend, and connect refrigerant piping in accordance with applicable codes and standards.

Participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule; respond to emergency calls within required windows.
Documentation & Client Communication

Complete service reports, work orders, and compliance records accurately at the point of service.

Communicate job status, findings, and recommended next steps directly to facility managers and building operators on-site.

Flag deficiency and warranty follow-up items; coordinate with the service team on scheduling and material sourcing.
Safety & Compliance

Execute lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures and operate elevated work platforms per applicable Ontario regulations.

Maintain a safe, professional presence on active construction sites and occupied facilities at all times.

Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment in good working order; report deficiencies promptly.
Team & Leadership

Mentor junior technicians and apprentices in the field; model technical standards and professional conduct.

Collaborate with the broader MeadowBrook team, including project managers, estimators, and other trade leads, on multi-trade service work where required.
Qualifications
Required
-
313A Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic, Compulsory Certification (Skilled Trades Ontario), current and in good standing.

Gas Technician 2 (G2) licence minimum; G1 preferred.

Valid ODP certification for refrigerant handling.

Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in ICI HVAC/R service, not installation-only, including commercial rooftop units, split systems, refrigeration racks, and/or multi-zone systems.

Valid WHMIS, Working at Heights (WAH), and Aerial Work Platform / Scissor Lift certifications.

Valid Ontario G-Class driver's licence with a clean abstract.

Police Clearance Certificate required prior to start.

Availability for rotating on-call after-hours and weekend emergency coverage.
Preferred
-
G1 Gas Technician licence.

Experience servicing commercial refrigeration racks, walk-in coolers/freezers, or food service cooling systems.

Familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and DDC controls.

Experience in a multi-client service environment managing competing schedules and priorities.

Prior experience mentoring apprentices or junior technicians in a field service setting.
