We are looking to fill the position of Rail Park Supervisor at Fernie Alpine Resort. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, physically fit, and passionate about freestyle terrain. They thrive in a team environment, demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, and are comfortable working outdoors in all mountain weather conditions.
The Rail Park Supervisor will lead the preseason setup and ongoing maintenance of the terrain park. You will be responsible for developing and implementing park designs, training and mentoring park staff, and overseeing day-to-day operations. You will work closely with the Outdoor Guest Services Manager while maintaining strong communication and collaboration with other Mountain Operations departments to ensure safe and efficient operations. You Will:
- Design, plan, and develop creative terrain park layouts that make effective use of the mountain's natural terrain.
- Lead the construction, setup, and seasonal development of terrain park features, including take-offs, landings, rail features, and other freestyle elements.
- Supervise, train, mentor, and coordinate the Rail Park team, assigning daily and weekly priorities in collaboration with the Assistant Supervisor.
- Inspect, maintain, and repair park features, signage, fencing, hit markers, and other infrastructure throughout the day to ensure a safe and high-quality guest experience.
- Monitor snow and weather conditions, including digging out and rebuilding features after snowfall as required.
- Test and evaluate park features regularly to ensure they are safe, progressive, and ride as intended.
- Maintain accurate inspection logs, feature status reports, and rider counts.
- Determine when features or sections of the park should be opened, closed, or modified based on conditions and safety standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with the Alpine Responsibility Code, educating staff and guests on park safety and etiquette, and enforcing safe operating practices.
- Coordinate daily operations with Grooming, Ski Patrol, Lift Operations, Snowmaking, Events, and other Mountain Operations departments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional terrain park environment.
You Have:
- Strong skiing or boarding skills. The ability to ride with equipment and tools in your hands. As well as being able to hit features confidently
- Ability to work outside in various weather conditions
- Able to lift 50 lbs. unassisted
- Terrain Park building experience, certifications are an asset
- Freestyle experience, certifications are an asset
- Ski industry experience, an asset
- Be prepared to be in Ski/ Snowboard boots all day
- Dynamic, motivated, enthusiastic professionals with strong customer service skills
- Good interpersonal skills, working in a team environment
This is a full-time winter seasonal position with the opportunity to return year over year for the right candidate.
