Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Bread Baker to join our team at a specialty retail store focused on high-quality, scratch-made baked goods. The ideal candidate is experienced in traditional bread baking techniques, knowledgeable about artisanal and naturally leavened products, and committed to delivering consistently excellent breads to our customers.
Job Structure
This is a full-time, hourly wage position. Work schedule includes weekends and holidays as required. Paid vacation accrual at 4%. Benefits are available after 6 months of full-time employment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake a variety of breads from scratch, including but not limited to sourdough, bagels, baguettes, focaccia, rye, and whole grain loaves etc.
- Scale, mix, knead, shape, proof, and bake bread according to established formulas and production schedules.
- Maintain consistency in texture, flavor, and appearance across all bread offerings.
- Operate and maintain commercial baking equipment including mixers, proofers, deck ovens, and dough dividers.
- Monitor dough development, and baking conditions to ensure product quality.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation in compliance with food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Assist with daily mise en place, ingredient prep, and inventory tracking.
- Contribute to recipe testing and development as needed.
- Collaborate with the bakery team to meet daily production goals and support overall store operations.
Qualifications
Skills and Experience
- Minimum 1–2 years of professional bread baking experience, preferably in a scratch bakery environment.
- Ability to work overnight, weekends and holidays.
- Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
- Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Passion for baking and a strong attention to detail.
- Team-oriented with good communication skills.
- Baking degree or certification a plus.
