- To keep all equipment (production and related) functioning properly during production and to follow all procedures. It is the priority of the Maintenance Mechanic to keep production running in a safe and efficient manner
- Inspection and repair of process equipment (pumps, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems)
- To complete preventative maintenance and work order on time and as required
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment in breakdown situations to ensure production efficiencies are achieved
- To work beyond end of shift as required from time to time in order to complete your task
- To work on shifts when there is no production as required from time to time to maintain/repair/install equipment
- Comply and ensure all work is performed safely while following OH&S, WSIB, and company policies and procedures
- Documents and reports all maintenance work performed and advises of future requirements in a timely manner
- To date, sign and complete all reports/forms correctly and accurately (Shift report, maintenance sanitation report)
- At the beginning of each shift check the Air compressors, Boiler Refrigeration and other equipment to ensure proper function. Any problems detected are reported and corrected
- To inspect and to lubricate (oil, grease) any equipment not in use or during CIP
- To be innovative in coming up with solutions to problems and to advise your Supervisor/Manager of improvements in your area
- Have responsibility for stock room management (scanning parts out and putting it back at the designated area) and provide Order Request of parts required for routine and preventive maintenance
- Works with other trades groups to complete project assignments
- To keep your work area clean, secure and follow GMP’s
Knowledge, Skills & Education
- Professional Certificate of Industrial Maintenance (433A Certificate) is a must
- Minimum 5 year of experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting, equipment repairs, welding experience is an asset
- Minimum 3 year of experience related to food and beverage industry, preferably dairy, or high-speed process equipment or packaging experience
- Pneumatics and hydraulics knowledge
- Boiler, refrigeration, and air handling systems experience is an asset
- Able to read Blueprint, must be able to trouble shoot, and have analytical skills
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- High level of self-motivation and initiative
- Dependable with a good attendance and safety record
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English
- Ability to support all shifts (day, afternoon and night), incl. weekends and overtime
