Position Overview
Reporting to the appropriate site supervisor, the Equipment Operator will operate the zoom boom, bobcat, loader, dozer, skid steer etc. as required. When not operating equipment, the Operator will be expected to work with the Labourers to prepare and clean up the construction sites, move materials and equipment and perform demolition, excavation and compaction activities.
Key Responsibilities
Heavy equipment operators control equipment by moving levers or foot pedals, operating switches and/or turning dials
Handle and distribute construction materials (e.g. load and unload vehicles with supplies, equipment and construction materials; move tools, equipment and construction materials to and from work areas; remove rubble and other debris)
Excavate, backfill and compact subgrade (e.g. move and level earth using shovels and rakes, operate pneumatic tampers)
Requirements and Experience
Operate heavy equipment safely
Perform preventive maintenance tasks on Equipment
Read grade plans and use grade stakes in measuring the amount of earth to be moved
Follow directions that are spoken or given by hand signals
Physical strength and stamina
Manual dexterity
Able to sit for long periods of time in cramped spaces
A safety-conscious attitude
The ability to work with others in a team
Must be willing to work in remote job locations
Repetitive movement
Able to perform in a fast-paced environment
Continuously changing work tasks
Ability to work a significant amount of hours throughout the day
Ability to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg
Ability to work in all weather conditions and environment
