In this role, you will interact regularly with people in both official languages. Strong French-language proficiency is required (spoken, written and reading), as you will manage content produced primarily in French.
Your Role
We are seeking an individual with a keen interest in regional current affairs in British Columbia and the local French-speaking community.
As a Media Librarian, you will provide library and information services to programming and administrative teams. This role requires independent judgment and initiative, and you may occasionally co-ordinate the activities of other team members.
Your work will be guided by CBC/Radio-Canada’s programming and journalistic policies, as well as agreements governing media asset usage.
Key Tasks:

Select and archive regional French-language television and radio programming as well as production assets.

Catalogue the content of programs and production materials.

Provide audiovisual archives or content information on demand.

Assist production personnel and others in the selection/retrieval of material and the use of library resources.

Digitally manage the audiovisual archives.
This is a hybrid position with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.
What You Bring:
Qualifications:

University degree in information science or equivalent.

Two (2) years’ comparable and relevant experience.
Skills:
-
Knowledge of or experience with cataloguing file-based digital collections.

Understanding of the preservation and handling of file-based media.

Knowledge of and interest in the media industry.

Knowledge of CBC/Radio-Canada programming, particularly the French Services regional offering.

Ability to quickly learn internal CBC/Radio-Canada systems.

Understanding of CBC/Radio-Canada’s file-based production workflows, systems and tools.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French.

Strong organizational skills.

Proven ability to work without supervision.

Strong interpersonal skills working in a team environment.

High degree of independence and self-motivation.

Ability and willingness to work overtime, evenings, early mornings, weekends and/or holidays when required.
