Job Summary
VisFuture provides fully managed IT services to organizations across the Kenora area. We are hiring a full-time Onsite IT Support Technician, based in Kenora, to be our on-the-ground technical presence for a client site — keeping staff productive, systems secure, and service disruptions short.
You won't be working alone. You'll be the on-site member of a dedicated managed- services team, backed by a large group of remote engineers, helpdesk staff, and specialists who handle escalations, design, and after-hours coverage with you. The work is hands-on and varied: one hour you're imaging a laptop and onboarding a new hire, the next you're troubleshooting a network link or restoring a downed application within contracted response times — with the wider team a call away whenever you need them.
Duties
- End-user support: Provide first- and second-line support for desktops, laptops, thin clients, tablets and smartphones — install, configure, secure, troubleshoot and repair.
- Service desk & SLA: Own and resolve tickets in our PSA / ticketing system, meeting committed response and diagnosis targets across Critical/High/Medium/Low severities; escalate to the remote team when needed.
- Networking: Support and maintain on-site networking — managed firewalls and wireless access points across facilities, including link redundancy.
- Microsoft 365 & identity: Day-to-day administration of Microsoft 365, hybrid Active Directory (on-prem + Azure), and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
- Endpoint & security: Manage endpoint protection, patching, and remote monitoring & management (RMM) tooling; follow security and data-handling practices appropriate to a regulated, sensitive-data environment.
- Virtual desktop & apps: Support virtual desktop infrastructure (e.g., Azure Virtual Desktop) and hosted line-of-business applications for users working with sensitive data.
- Mobility: Provision and manage mobile devices via mobile device management (MDM).
- Telephony & print: Support the VoIP phone system and print-management services.
- Deployments & projects: Lead on-site hardware rollouts, moves/adds/changes, and onboarding/offboarding; assist VisFuture and the client on infrastructure projects.
- Documentation & relationships: Keep asset and configuration records current; build trusted, respectful working relationships with client staff and the internal IT team.
- Escalation: Hand off design-level and complex infrastructure work (network architecture, virtual desktop design, directory changes) to VisFuture's remote engineering team — this is a hands-on support role backed by remote specialists.
- Travel: Travel to client facilities and sites in the Kenora area as required.

- Familiarity with Active Directory / Azure AD (Entra ID) and MFA.
- Hands-on hardware support — imaging, repairs, peripherals, mobile devices.
- Strong communication skills — fluent in English (spoken and written), with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with staff and the team.
- Customer-service mindset: clear communication, patience, and the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
- Self-directed and reliable working on-site with remote team backup.
- Valid driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle for local travel.
