Winnipeg Lung Diagnostics Respiratory Therapist – Pulmonary Function Testing
Position Summary
The successful Registered Respiratory Therapist for this position will be independent and responsible for performing pulmonary function testing and the common administrative duties required to facilitate the smooth operation of a small PFT lab. The types of testing conducted include full pulmonary function testing, simple spirometry, lung diffusion (DLCO), as well as education on respiratory pathologies, and proper use of respiratory medications.
Qualifications
- Must have RRT Certification
- Current registration with applicable regulatory bodies as applicable (i.e., Manitoba Association of Registered Respiratory Therapists (MARRT), the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapists (CSRT))
- Must have current BLS and First Aid training and certification
- Sound and independent judgment, reasoning, and discretion
- Ability to lift and/or move equipment
- Customer service experience preferred
- Any management experience also an asset
- Previous experience performing PFT’s in a private clinic an asset*
Skills
- Able to skillfully conduct PFT testing while also building rapport with patients
- Able to work independently, strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience and confidence in handling emergency situations (critical thinking)
- Excellent time management skills and strong attention to details
- Strong interest in utilizing technology to provide the best service to patients
Duties & Responsibilities
- Safely perform patient assessments and PFT tests in a timely manner as ordered by Family Physicians and Respirology / Pulmonary Specialists
- Carry out daily equipment calibrations and regular equipment trouble shooting as required
- Notify the Manager / Medical Director of any concerns or critical values and results in a timely manner
- Provide education to patients regarding proper use of Respiratory medications
- Assist patients in the completion of any required forms and documents
- Ensure correct data and notes have been entered into the EMR systems (Accuro) in a timely manner
Job Types: Casual
Salary: Competitive based on experience.
Schedule:
- Casual, up to 16 hours per week.
- Weekends and evenings can be discussed as options
Pay: From $47.00 per hour
