As a member of the Olivieri Delta Production team, this Associate will execute the preparation and manufacture of our pasta through the operation of equipment, handling of ingredients, and cleaning and sanitation of their line. The Associate will do this in cooperation with his/her team members in a safe and food-safe manner.
GENERAL
- Hourly position
- Hours may vary in order to meet the production requirements
- This position is NIGHT SHIFT ONLY
- Addition of $1.10/hour CAD night shift premium
- Weekend work will be required based on production requirements
- Shift times can vary from:
***8:30PM to 5:00AM, OR 9:00PM to 5:30AM, OR 10:00PM to 6:30AM ***
Operator responsibilities:
- Assembly of equipment at start up.
- Timely and organized changeovers of equipment as required.
- Troubleshooting and adjustment of all other areas
- Provide key feedback where corrective actions may be required
- Produce product to meet provided specifications while ensuring minimal waste.
- Communicate with Lead hand or Production Supervisor on any issues
- Provide assistance to the packaging team when needed
- Check all required CCP’s (Critical Control Point)
- Must work within the SAP system.
- Must inform QA or Production Supervisor any time product is or is suspect of not meeting company standards in either area.
- Adhere to all of the Company’s rule, policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties/jobs as assigned by Supervisor.
- Must be able to rotate positions within the production area as required.
- Wear all required PPE
Sanitation:
- Responsible for maintaining the high standards of cleanliness required by the Company and CFIA
- Must ensure consistent cleanliness of assigned equipment and plant areas as per SSOP’s
- Responsible for understanding and use of proper sanitation/cleaning procedures and techniques
- Responsible for understanding and applying safe chemical handling practices and use of chemicals
- Responsible for proper disassembly and assembly of equipment parts
- Must be capable to work with CIP systems, tanks, piping and other equipment
- Must be able to learn, understand and safely use portable foaming equipment, foaming and sanitization stations
- Will be required to perform physically demanding work (lifting, bending, twisting)
- Must have excellent work ethics and attendance record
- Must be flexible and have proven ability to cope with constant change in a dynamic working environment. Must be willing to contribute to a safe working environment
- Previous experience operating machinery and/or mechanically inclined
OPERATION OF MOBILE EQUIPMENT (Training Available if Needed)
- Must have received and passed training for the safe operation of a mobile power jack.
- Must operate said equipment in such a manner as not to damage equipment or introduce foreign contaminants into the product.
FOOD SAFETY AND QUALITY CONTROL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must comply with all GMP (General Manufacturing Practices) and understand the importance of Food Safety as the key priority in our business.
- Must comply with all other food safety rules and practices and Sanitation SOP’s (Standard Operating procedures).
- Actively maintain good housekeeping of the work areas.
- Actively observe and maintain the expected product quality when running the production line.
- Measure and monitor CCP’s reliably and accurately
- Monitor and fill in all required documentation
HEALTH AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must follow all Health and Safety rules of the company consistently.
- Must be able to safely operate and assemble/disassemble equipment.
- Required to communicate safety violations and/or safety issues to Lead Hand/Supervisor.
- Must attend training for handling of chemicals, WHMIS etc.
COMMUNICATION AND TEAM WORK
- Communicate frequently with peers, Lead Hands and Supervisors on issues of quality, Health and Safety and operations.
- Demonstrate flexibility and work together with the team to achieve on–time performance and targets.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS OF THE POSITION
- Working in our Food Safety environment has a high requirement for detailed and very structured and at times monotonous and repetitive work
- Physical demands vary from production environment to packaging/ sanitation environment.
- Considerations to take into account are as follows and are different from job to job:
- Some work done in a wet and cold environment (i.e. coolers at < 4 degrees C).
- Repetitive lifting of equipment, ingredients, tools etc. from light to heavy (up to 50 pounds) is to be expected daily.
- Repetitive reaching, bending, twisting, and squatting to various degrees is to be expected daily.
- Hot (Production) or Cold (Prep) environment.
- Use of and work on movable platforms may be required.
- Use of chemicals, including caustic and strong acids is required.
Pay: $22.95-$23.55 per hour
