Bridal Seamstress / Wedding Gown Specialist
Imperial Sewing is seeking an experienced Bridal Seamstress to join our team in Kingston, Ontario. We are looking for a highly skilled individual with extensive experience in bridal alterations, gown construction, fittings, and custom bridal work. The ideal candidate is confident working independently and can handle everything from simple alterations to complex wedding gown transformations.
Responsibilities
Conduct bridal consultations, fittings, and measurements
Perform wedding gown alterations including hemming, bustle creation, bodice adjustments, strap modifications, sleeve alterations, and zipper replacements
Work with lace, satin, chiffon, tulle, organza, crepe, beading, sequins, horsehair braid, and other delicate bridal fabrics
Remove, reposition, and hand-sew lace appliqués
Install cups, boning, corsetry, and structural support elements
Perform complex gown resizing and reconstruction
Create custom bridal modifications and one-of-a-kind design changes based on client requests
Complete hand sewing and finishing work to a high standard
Ensure gowns fit perfectly and are completed on schedule
Communicate professionally with brides throughout the alteration process
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of bridal alteration experience preferred
Strong fitting, measuring, and garment construction skills
Experience working with all bridal fabrics and materials
Ability to perform complex bridal alterations independently
Experience with lace appliqués, beading, corsetry, and gown reconstruction
Excellent attention to detail and quality workmanship
Ability to manage multiple bridal clients and deadlines
Experience creating custom bridal pieces, sleeves, overskirts, modesty panels, and other bridal customizations is considered an asset
