Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial records, ensuring accurate bookkeeping, and supporting various accounting functions using a range of accounting software. Duties
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently using software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, and Workday
- Perform data entry tasks with high accuracy to maintain up-to-date financial records
- Reconcile accounts regularly to ensure accuracy and identify discrepancies promptly
- Process payroll using systems like ADP, Ceridian, Kronos, and UltiPro
- Assist with budgeting, account analysis, and financial reporting to support management decision-making
- Maintain and update financial information within various accounting platforms including PeopleSoft and Accounting software tools
- Support month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Conduct regular audits of financial transactions to ensure compliance with company policies and regulations
- Manage daily bookkeeping and accounting records
- Record accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Process invoices, receipts, and expense reports
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Prepare HST/GST filings and payroll support
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports
- Maintain general ledger and financial records
- Monitor cash flow and company expenses
- Work with external accountants during year-end
- Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards
- Maintain accurate filing systems (digital & physical)
- Support management with budgeting and financial analysis
- Assist with inventory and cost tracking
- Handle confidential financial information professionally
Qualifications
- Proven experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or finance roles with familiarity in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, Workday, PeopleSoft, and UltiPro
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliation, and payroll processing
- Proficiency in data entry with high attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent math skills coupled with analytical abilities for account analysis and budgeting tasks
- Ability to adapt quickly to different accounting systems including Kronos and Ceridian
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Prior experience working in financial services or related fields is preferred
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is highly desirable
