About the Role
We're recruiting Geomatics Analysts (Level 2) to support the development of geospatial mapping capabilities and products for an aircraft modernization program. This is a two-year engagement within a specialized engineering team producing aeronautical charts and custom geospatial products built to meet strict aviation operational airworthiness standards — a highly specialized cartographic and GIS discipline. Candidates must be eligible for a SECRET-level government security clearance.
What You'll Do
- Analyze, develop, and document the functional requirements of aircraft map-display systems, including information, procedures, and decision flows
- Evaluate existing procedures and methods; identify and document database content, structure, and application sub-systems; develop data dictionaries
- Define and document interfaces between manual and automated operations within sub-systems, to external systems, and between new and existing systems
- Define input/output sources and detailed technical design plans, and support approval of designs
- Design and document system components, their interfaces, and operational environments
- Design data structures, files, sub-systems, modules, and production workflows, including testing strategies and systems
- Document system design and concepts, and present for approval
- Produce complete operational systems, including forms, manuals, programs, data files, and procedures
- Perform GIS and cartographic production analysis and modelling
- Design and implement functional prototypes of aeronautical charts and products
- Restructure and integrate data from diverse sources and formats into production workflows
- Create and update metadata for geospatial datasets compliant with ISO 19115 metadata standards
- Create, update, and maintain documentation outlining production procedures and applicable aeronautical/mapping standards
- Create, update, and document standardized datasets and fit-for-purpose aeronautical products across aircraft fleets
- Maintain a detailed product specification, database schema, and symbology library for digital aeronautical products and web mapping services
- Provide technical advice and support to internal development teams as well as external customers and stakeholders
- Provide technical advice and support to the broader digital charting product user community

Required Qualifications
- Minimum 60 months of experience in the past 96 months working with Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
- Minimum 36 months of experience in the past 60 months using ESRI ArcPro (version 2.x or 3.x)
- Minimum 24 months of experience in the past 96 months using MapLink Studio Professional
- Minimum 60 months of experience in the past 96 months using FME Desktop
- Minimum 24 months of experience in the past 96 months using Portable Flight Planning System (PFPS)
- Minimum 36 months of experience in the past 72 months working with aeronautical data standards such as DAFIF, AAFIF, and DVOF/TFADS-O
- Eligible to obtain and maintain a SECRET-level government security clearance and Controlled Goods Program registration
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
Preferred Qualifications (Will Strengthen Your Application)
- Experience developing map/chart product specifications for digital map displays on aircraft (5+ years is ideal)
- Experience providing digital mapping/charting production support for military aircraft platforms, including CH148 Cyclone, CH147 Chinook, CH146 Griffon, CP140 Aurora, and CC295 Kingfisher
- Experience producing digital mapping outputs for ForeFlight™, including symbolized vector data and raster maps/charts
Engagement Details
- Contract length: 2 years from award; approximately 480 days level of effort (about 240 days per year)
- Location: on-site in Ottawa, ON during core hours (7:00 AM–5:00 PM, Monday–Friday, excluding statutory holidays); limited off-site/remote work may be authorized by the client
- Meetings: weekly status update meetings, plus ad hoc meetings as required; in-person meetings held in the Ottawa area
- Security: SECRET-level personnel security clearance and Controlled Goods Program registration required; a facility visit clearance process applies before on-site access

Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
