The Buyer supports procurement activities across multiple production facilities. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the timely supply of ingredients, packaging, and indirect materials in a fast-paced, high-SKU, shelf-life-sensitive environment.
Working closely with production, warehouse, and quality teams, the Buyer helps maintain inventory flow, supports supplier coordination, and ensures materials meet food safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in purchasing ingredients, packaging, and operational supplies across multiple sites
- Generate and manage purchase orders using SAP ERP
- Coordinate deliveries to multiple production facilities and storage locations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Monitor inventory levels, shelf life, and usage trends to support replenishment planning and minimize waste
- Communicate regularly with suppliers regarding lead times, order status, and issue resolution
- Support management of perishable and short lead-time items critical to bakery, deli, and sweet good production
- Maintain up-to-date supplier documentation (specifications, allergen declarations, food safety certifications)
- Ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory standards (e.g., HACCP, CFIA requirements)
- Collaborate with Production Planning, QA, and Warehouse teams to align supply with production schedules
- Assist in cost tracking, price verification, and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Support supplier onboarding and performance tracking
Qualifications & Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Supply Chain, Business, Food Science, or related field
- 1–2 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain (food manufacturing strongly preferred)
- Experience with SAP ERP is preferred
- Experience in a multi-site or high-volume environment is an asset
- Strong Excel skills (basic formulas, data tracking, reporting)
- Understanding of perishable inventory management is an asset
- Knowledge of food safety standards and regulatory compliance is preferred

Pay: $52,000.00-$56,000.00 per year
