Career Contacts is recruiting on behalf of our client, a Canadian-owned and operated company with an extensive national presence. They are seeking a Temporary Payroll Administrator for a full-time, 2-3 month temporary position with the possibility of extension or for the role to go permanent for the right fit, in their Vancouver office. In this role, the selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing across multiple provinces, while supporting payroll policy development, continuous improvement initiatives, and the resolution of complex payroll matters. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the ideal candidate should be a collaborative, detail-oriented payroll professional with strong technical expertise and a service-driven approach when supporting internal stakeholders.

Salary: $31.00 – $33.00 per year

Responsibilities:
- Processing full cycle bi-weekly payroll for a high volume of employees amongst several different entities in various departments
- Calculate the correct amount of pay, overtime, deductions, bonuses, etc.
- Reviewing and verifying work hours and validate cohesion data
- Processing additions, deduction and adjustments to pay
- Review new hire entries into the payroll system and verify the source of documents
- Make continuous improvements on the payroll process, and system and increase work efficiency
- Collect and gather all payroll data from emails and the shared drive to help the payroll process
- Reconcile month-end duties such as vacation accrual, payroll clearing, payroll costs etc.
- Review all payroll-related invoices
- Prepare all payroll and benefit intercompany invoices.
- Prepare various payroll reports for the Management and Finance team
- Help on year-end payroll processing, including T4s and T2200 forms and taxable employee benefits.
- Document Filing and Administrative tasks on a regular and as needed basis
Requirements:
- 2-3 years of payroll administration experience in a complex, high volume environment
- Post-secondary education in accounting or business administration would be an asset
- Payroll certificate complete or in progress required
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and in Excel (Pivot Table & VLOOKUP and HLOOKUP)
- Previous experience with an ERP required
- Proficient in data entry and data management with ability to meet deadlines
- A minimum of 40 wpm is necessary
- Effective organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy and time management skills
- Fluent in English with effective communication skills both written and oral
- Ability to use critical thinking
- Above average problem-solving skill resulting in sound business solutions
- Customer service skills
- Cross border experience is an asset
