Horizontal Directional Drill Locator – Civil Telecommunications
Job Responsibilities:
Safely operate a truck and trailer to bring equipment and materials to site.
Accurately read utility locates and construction drawings.
Layout bore path with driller and identify any possible issues, report any issues to superiors before commencing work.
Convey plan with team members and/or Hydrovac to complete utility exposures/daylighting.
Operate Subsite locator to complete bore paths and install conduit/cable as necessary.
Communicate precisely with driller during entire drill shot to ensure work completed in a safe and efficient manner.
Assist with installation of other underground infrastructure, pedestals, vaults, etc. by operating other equipment and tools.
Ensure safety documentation and daily equipment inspections are completed.
Perform general maintenance requirements on equipment.
Work to ensure company policies and procedures are being followed.
Assist other members of team with site cleanup and remediations.
Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
3+ years of experience with HDD locating.
Have required tickets Ground Disturbance Level 2, First Aid, CSTS. Confined space an asset.
Previous experience with telecommunications (Telus and Shaw) installation methods an asset.
Must be flexible in working various shifts.
Familiar with various construction equipment used in the industry.
Knowledge of health, safety, environmental practices related to the construction industry.
Able to manage a physically requirements of the job and comfortable working outdoors in varying conditions.
Good work ethic with exceptional attention to detail.
Mechanically and mathematically inclined.
Ability to problem solve issues in the field that may arise.
Highly motivated and able to complete assignments with minimal supervision.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must have/maintain a class 5 license and clean drivers abstract. Class 1 or 3 license an asset.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
