It is an exciting time to be part of Recovery Alberta Virtual Addiction Medicine Services (VAMS) as we advance creation of a Virtual Addiction Psychiatry service. Recovery Alberta is seeking a new member to join its innovative team. Reporting to the Manager, Virtual Addiction Medicine Services, the Social Worker II will provide mental health assessment, provisional diagnosis, crisis intervention, restricted psychosocial interventions, education and referral services for individuals experiencing significant mental health and comorbid addiction disorders. As a key member of the VAMS team, this position is responsible for varied work of an advanced nature and complexity, requiring a comprehensive knowledge base of psychiatric disorders (DSMV-TR) and will hold specialized clinical knowledge and experience in psychosocial and pharmacological interventions. The successful incumbent will practice from a strength-based, trauma/violence informed and culturally competent perspective utilizing a variety of evidence informed modalities, and will have experience in group facilitation, clinical consultation (physician, psychiatry, pharmacist) and interdisciplinary treatment planning/case management. A high standard of professionalism and initiative is required, with a strong aptitude for innovation, critical thinking and decision making. A solid performance history of excelling within an independently functioning, fast-paced, and high-performance team environment is essential.
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include: psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Authorized by ACSW to provide psychosocial interventions. Direct experience in case management, group and individual counselling, knowledge of the process of addictions and various theoretical models that guide intervention. Knowledge of substance use disorder treatment modalities, interventions and current best practice strategies. Knowledge of Opioid Agonist Treatment and Substance Use Disorder Medications. Working knowledge of Motivational Interviewing. 3-4 years of recent experience working in a clinical Addictions setting. Accurate keyboarding skills of minimum 60 wpm and proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel), Zoom, Genesis etc. Minimum of 4 years of relevant mental health experience. Strong working knowledge of the addiction and mental health system across the province and the ability to locate resources that may be useful for callers based on clinical judgement. Advanced skills in assessment and intervention for individuals of all ages with addiction and mental health concerns, including crisis intervention skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of Trauma Informed Care. Working knowledge of Motivational Interviewing. Virtual experience preferred. Completion of ODT Training education.
