About This Role
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Return Inspector to join our warehouse operations team. This role is responsible for inspecting returned electronic devices, identifying defects and failure causes, determining product grading, and evaluating whether devices are economically worth repairing.
The ideal candidate has strong technical knowledge of consumer and commercial electronics, experience troubleshooting hardware issues, and the ability to provide practical repair recommendations and cost evaluations.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and evaluate returned electronic products, including: laptops, desktop computers, printers, monitors, tablets, and small electronic gadgets and accessories.
- Perform functional and visual inspections to determine product condition and grading status.
- Identify and diagnose Grade F (Failure) items, including: power failures, screen/display issues, motherboard or hardware faults, battery issues, physical damage, missing components, and software or operating system problems.
- Determine root causes of product failures and document findings accurately.
- Decide whether devices are: repairable, non-repairable, economically worth repairing, or suitable for parts harvesting or disposal.
- Provide repair plans and recommended solutions, including: required replacement parts, estimated repair labour, estimated repair costs, and estimated resale or recovery value.
- Work closely with warehouse operations and management teams to improve return handling efficiency and recovery rates.
- Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and grading documentation.
- Ensure all inspections follow company SOPs, quality standards, and safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in electronics inspection, repair, refurbishment, or technical diagnostics.
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware and consumer electronics.
- Experience working with returned merchandise, refurbishment, RMA, or reverse logistics operations.
- Ability to diagnose failures at both hardware and basic software levels.
- Familiarity with repair cost evaluation and resale value assessment.
- Comfortable using testing tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Able to work efficiently in a warehouse environment.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
Preferred Qualification
- Experience repairing laptops, desktops, or mobile devices.
- Fluency in Mandarin or Cantonese is advantageous
- Knowledge of component-level troubleshooting.
- Understanding of grading systems for returned electronics.
- Experience with ERP/WMS systems or inspection tracking systems.
- Ability to train or guide junior return inspectors.
