We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Maintenance Manager to lead our maintenance team and oversee the maintenance, repair, and reliability of our manufacturing facility, equipment, mobile fleet, and infrastructure. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring our operations run safely and efficiently while supporting production through effective planning, preventative maintenance, and team development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the Maintenance Department, including Maintenance Leads, Mechanics, Millwrights, and Technicians.
- Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs for manufacturing equipment, mobile equipment, tools, cranes, and facility infrastructure.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and support production requirements.
- Oversee maintenance of building systems including HVAC, fire suppression, compressed air systems, electrical systems, and utilities.
- Manage repairs and maintenance of shop equipment, overhead cranes, and facility infrastructure.
- Maintain maintenance records, certifications, calibration schedules, and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Alberta OH&S legislation, company policies, and COR requirements.
- Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers.
- Assist with budgeting, capital planning, equipment purchasing, and cost control initiatives.
- Coordinate installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and maintenance efficiency.
- Review employee timecards and manage departmental labour resources.
- Mentor, coach, and develop maintenance personnel while conducting performance reviews and supporting employee development.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering, Field Operations, and other departments to prioritize maintenance activities.
- Participate in emergency call-outs when required.
Qualifications
- Journeyperson Mechanical Trade Certification (Millwright, Heavy Duty Mechanic, Industrial Mechanic, or equivalent) required.
- Minimum 8–10 years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
- Experience managing building maintenance systems including HVAC, fire protection, compressed air, and electrical systems.
- Experience with overhead cranes and industrial manufacturing equipment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
- Experience managing contractors, vendors, and maintenance budgets.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent leadership, communication, planning, and organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in heavy industrial manufacturing, pressure vessel fabrication, structural steel, oil & gas, or related industries is considered an asset.
Knowledge of:
- COR requirements
- Preventative maintenance software (ToolHound or similar CMMS)
- ASME, API, and TEMA standards
