Temporary Housing Support & Community Inclusion Worker
Pay: CA$25.09 per hour
Job Summary
We are seeking a dual-role Housing Support & Community Inclusion Worker for casual employment. You will provide essential frontline support to adults with disabilities, balancing stable housing advocacy with active community engagement.
On the housing side, you will help clients maintain independence by educating them on tenant rights, mediating with landlords, and connecting them to financial resources to prevent eviction. Simultaneously, you will foster social growth by organizing and implementing life-skills, recreational, and educational programs both at home and in the community.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations
Housing Stability & Tenancy Support
- Eviction Prevention: Proactively identify instability; coach individuals on tenant rights, lease agreements, and maintaining a safe home environment.
- Onboarding & Transitions: Assess CLBC referrals, conduct suitability interviews, and lead the orientation process for new residents, including housing applications and registry filings.
- Crisis Intervention: Respond to urgent housing concerns and mediate landlord-tenant disputes to ensure long-term residency.
Financial & Resource Navigation
- Resource Connection: Help individuals access rental subsidies, disability assistance, and emergency funds.
- Life Skills: Support budgeting and financial literacy specifically related to rent and household expenses.
Community Inclusion & Personal Growth
- Active Engagement: Plan and implement social, recreational, and educational programs tailored to individual interests and Person-Centered Plans (PCPs).
- Inclusion Advocacy: Promote respectful treatment and inclusive communication, supporting individuals in expressing their choices and preferences.
- Behavioral Support: Utilize positive intervention strategies to manage day-to-day variations in support needs and challenges with tolerance and professionalism.
Collaboration & Professional Standards
- Advocacy: Represent individuals' interests when negotiating with landlords, government agencies (CLBC), and community partners.
- Teamwork: Maintain ethical boundaries and foster cooperative relationships with families, coworkers, and stakeholders.
- Administrative Support: Assist the Manager with staff orientation, PCP development, and adherence to Kardel policies and procedures.
Mandatory Compliance
- Age: Must be 19 years of age or older.
- Licensing & Transit: Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License with access to a reliable personal vehicle and appropriate business insurance.
- Health & Safety: Negative TB test result.
- Certifications: Valid First Aid/CPR certification.
- Background Check: Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check (to be submitted by Kardel).
Education & Experience
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Community Support, Disability Studies, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Field Experience: Proven experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, or those experiencing housing instability.
- Specialized Knowledge: Experience with Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is an asset.

- Professional Approach: Demonstrated commitment to cultural competency and trauma-informed care.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to advocate effectively for clients.
- Problem Solving: Strong conflict resolution skills and the ability to work independently or collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
