POSITION SUMMARY / SCOPE:
The West Region BSO Training and Equipment Lead role will have an employment and administrative relationship with St. Joseph’s Villa Dundas but will work on behalf of the West Region BSO Strategy Lead Collaborative to build capacity and improve access to BSO training, education and equipment through regional coordination of training and education and equipment procurement. The Lead's annual work plan and focus of activities will be determined by the West Region BSO Strategy Leads Collaborative.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- The Training and Equipment Coordinator will coordinate with Ontario Health West Region (OH-West) the BSO training and equipment in Long-Term Care Homes (LTCH).
- The Training and Equipment Coordinator will optimize utilization of the existing BSO training and equipment funds in OH-West LTCH.
- Working alongside BSO leadership to assist with evaluation, and reporting on the outcomes associated with each year’s investment.
- Develops, leads, and maintains a Community of Practice with OH-West LTCH, for the purposes of planning, to enable LTCH to provide input into training plans and equipment purchases.
- Works in collaboration and partnership with care partners and consultants serving LTCH including Psychogeriatric Consultants (PRCs) and other OH-West Educators.
- Collect data for OH-West for dedicated training and equipment dollars, activities including, but not limited to, education events, seminars, conferences, etc.
- Will participate in Continuous Quality Improvement practices as identified by the BSO Program, Senior Lead and/or OH-West through data collection, analysis, implementation and evaluation as directed/ requested.
- The Training and Equipment Coordinator will attend BSO PCO Knowledge to Practice Committee.
- Monitoring and identifying service trends, gaps, issues within BSO training and equipment across West Region LTCH and make recommendations to the OH-West BSO Strategy and Lead Collaborative.
- Collaboratively organize the annual BSO education day for all BSO Team Members across West Region.
- Other Duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE
FORMAL EDUCATION:
- Baccalaureate Degree or College Diploma in Health and/or a Social Services field from a recognized University or College i.e. gerontology, psychology, health sciences, social science, business, project management, etc.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE:
- Understanding of Dementia and the Aging Population in Ontario is required
- LTC experience is an asset
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, facilitation, decision-making and diplomacy skills. Able to interact comfortably with all levels of organizations and personnel is required
- Excellent oral and written skills and capacity for both self-direction and collaboration within the context of an intersectoral interdisciplinary care team is required
- Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work independently and to meet deadlines with an attention to detail is required
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Canva and communications software (i.e. Zoom, MS Teams, etc.) is required
- Ability to develop and lead presentations and seminars in collaboration with key partners is an asset
- Confidence and ability to implement data collection plans and interact with large datasets is an asset
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with West Region partners (i.e., PRCs, West Region Strategic Collaborative, OH West, all West Region BSO Teams, and West Region LTC Homes) is required
- Ability to receive guidance and constructive feedback from multiple West Region BSO Strategy Lead Collaborative members and SJV BSO LTC Manager is required
- Current and valid Ontario G license, with insurance liability of minimum $2,000,000 and personal use of a reliable vehicle is required
Pay: $36.57-$42.41 per hour
