Plant Mechanic – Waste and Recycling Industry

About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Plant Mechanic to support operations at their Material Recovery Facility (MRF). The Plant Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems and equipment essential to recycling operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on plant machinery and equipment
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and complete necessary repairs
- Inspect equipment and replace worn or damaged components
- Maintain and repair conveyors, balers, shredders, and related industrial systems
- Ensure all work follows safety protocols and facility standards
- Respond to urgent repair needs and support operational uptime
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of mechanical maintenance experience (industrial or MRF preferred)
- Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and conveyor systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment
- Flexibility to work shifts and respond to emergency repairs
- Strong commitment to safety and operational reliability
Pay: $25.00-$25.50 per hour
Expected hours: 35.0 – 40.0 per week
Work Location: In person
