We are currently looking for a Food Service Worker for one of our long-standing partners at their established long-term care home.
Responsibilities and duties:
The Food Service Worker is responsible for providing a variety of duties related to the preparation of resident meals and snacks, the service of foods and the routine cleaning of food services areas in accordance with the policies of the home and applicable legislation.
Dietary Aides are expected to:
- Assist with food/meal production
- Prepare nourishments and carts for service
- Prepare trays/plates and/or distribute the resident meals and snacks according to the diet list/individual diet menus and the residents’ preferences
- Follow each resident plan of care and communicate any discrepancies to the supervisor in a prompt manner
- Prepare tables and serving areas for meal services
- Maintain a sanitary and clean working environment in line with infection control techniques
- Other dietary duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Successful completion of the Food Service Worker program at an established college (currently enrolled students of the program are welcome as well!) - Preferred
- Current Food Handlers Safety Awareness certification - Required

- Excellent attendance and punctuality
- Hardworking, compassionate, positive, solution-oriented, professional and flexible
- LTC experience is considered an asset
- Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50lbs, stand for long periods of time; walk and climb stairs frequently throughout the day; Crouch, kneel, stoop/bend for short periods of time; ability to tolerate heat in kitchen area

Schedule
We pride ourselves on offering flexible scheduling to our employees through our use of StaffStat, a scheduling app that puts shifts in the palm of your hand allowing employees to self-schedule easily. Plan A expects all employees to be available to work all shift types and a minimum number of weekend shifts each month. For casual staff, the minimum is 1 weekend shift each month, and for part-time and full-time staff the minimum is 4 weekend shifts each month.
We work with multiple LTC facilities in the region and our opportunities will be available at a variety of locations. Because of this, your commute within the region could range from 5-minutes to an hour, depending on the location of the facility.
