Position Summary
The Accounting Clerk works as part of the Accounting team to support the firm's day-to-day financial operations. This role performs a variety of accounting and administrative functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense processing, payment reconciliation, trust accounting support, and general clerical duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing and reconciling payable invoices and expense reimbursements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal policies and procedures.
- Allocating and posting incoming account payments received by cheque, credit card, and various forms of electronic payment.
- Receiving and processing staff requests for corporate credit card use, and monitoring and reconciling credit card accounts.
- Allocating and posting incoming trust funds, ensuring compliance with internal policies, the Rules of the Law Society of Alberta, and Canada Revenue Agency requirements.
- Assisting and supporting legal assistants with billing (including eBilling), reporting needs, and related accounting inquiries.
- Providing support to the Accounting team and other teams, including occasional assistance and backup support as needed.
- Performing other related duties and participating in special projects, as required.
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Experience with finance, billing, and document management systems considered an asset.
- Experience working in a law firm or other professional services environment considered an asset.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and Outlook.

Reporting
The Accounting Clerk will report directly to the Senior Accounting Analyst.
Work Schedule
This is a permanent, full-time position with a regular schedule of 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday, to be worked within the firm's operating hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
