Summary
The Controller oversees the daily accounting operations and ensures accurate, complete, and high-quality financial reporting. This role has a working relationship with senior management and operations, working closely with them to understand their financial needs and develop financial solutions that support the achievement of the vision, mission, and purpose. The work includes:
Responsibilities:
- Preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. This will involve reviewing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and preparing supporting schedules to ensure the completeness and accuracy of the financial statements.
- Provide support for financial planning and analysis, including the preparation of financial projections and reports. This will involve forecasting cash flows, projecting revenue and expenses, and analyzing business trends.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely and accurate payment of bills and prompt collection of receivables. This will involve reconciling vendor statements, monitoring cash balances, and managing collections activities.
- Manage and mentor the accounting support team of four, providing training and development opportunities.
- Collaborate with management to develop and monitor budgets and provide regular updates on financial performance. This will involve preparing budget projections, tracking actual results, and analyzing variances.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting department. This will involve identifying areas for improvement, recommending changes, and monitoring the implementation of new procedures.
- Assist with tax preparation and filing of tax returns. This will involve preparing tax work papers, compiling information for tax returns, and communicating with tax professionals as needed.
- Maintain relationship with auditors and respond to financial related queries internally and externally.
- Support evaluation of software systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field, and CPA certification.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting and finance, with at least 3 years in a management role.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial analysis, with experience in financial statement preparation and review.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with strong project management skills.
- Proficient in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting software.
- Experience working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $38.00-$42.00 per hour
