Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled, independent General Service Contractor (GSC) Personal Trainer specialising in rehabilitative exercise. In this role, you will operate within our fitness centre spaces, bridging the gap between clinical recovery and functional performance.
As a GSC, you manage your own business while leveraging our high-traffic recreation environment. You will work with a diverse clientele, ranging from individuals returning from injury to older adults to those managing chronic conditions, ensuring every program is rooted in sound biomechanical principles.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Clinical Programming: Design and implement periodized, evidence-based programs tailored to rehabilitative goals and injury prevention
- Adaptive Coaching: Pivot and adjust training sessions in real-time based on client feedback, mobility restrictions, and physical assessments.
- Relationship Management: Build long-term client retention through active listening, compassionate coaching, and clear communication of progress.
- Facility Integration: Act as a lead expert within the fitness space, orienting clients on safe equipment use, etiquette, and proper movement mechanics.
- Professional Administration: Manage independent billing by submitting bi-monthly invoicing and maintain meticulous and confidential records.
- Safety and Response: Maintain a high standard of first aid readiness and professional conduct as outlined in the General Services Agreement.
Qualifications/Experience:
Required
- Certification: Accredited Personal Trainer Fitness Certification (CSEP-CPT/CEP, CanFitPro, ACE)
- Technical Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of human anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, and movement screening protocols.
- Professional Protection: Proof of $2 million Professional Liability Insurance
- First Aid: Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C (renewed annually)
- Continuous Learning: Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development and continuing education credits (CECs)
- Experience: 3+ years of relevant experience
Preferred
- Degree in Health and Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field
- CSEP-CEP (Clinical Exercise Physiologist) or specialised Rehabilitative/Corrective Exercise certifications
- Exceptional organisational habits and a passion for working with diverse populations
