About the Role:
Rhapsody Dance Project is seeking a reliable, organized, and enthusiastic Operations & Rehearsal Assistant to support the day-to-day execution of our program throughout the fall season.
This role is ideal for someone with a passion for the performing arts who understands rehearsal and performance environments. The successful candidate will help ensure rehearsals, program administration, and performance preparations run smoothly, particularly when the Directors are unable to attend rehearsals. The position offers valuable behind-the-scenes experience in arts administration, production support, and performance operations while contributing to a growing community-focused dance organization.
Key Responsibilities for this role:
- Operations & Administration
- Support rehearsal scheduling and communication
- Track attendance and maintain attendance records
- Assist with volunteer coordination and communications
- Support participant registration administration
- Monitor program timelines and help ensure milestones are met
- Rehearsal & Production Support
- Attend Sunday rehearsals and provide on-site leadership and support when required
- Act as the point of contact during rehearsals when the Directors are unavailable
- Assist with rehearsal logistics and organization
- Support the creation and maintenance of run-of-show documentation
- Coordinate dress rehearsal logistics including scheduling and volunteer organization
- Assist with day-of-performance execution and backstage coordination
Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who:
- Is passionate about building the performing arts community in the KW region
- Will be available in the KW region throughout the September to December program period
- Has a solid understanding of performance etiquette and rehearsal practices
- Has knowledge of performance setup and basic technical backstage operations
- Is comfortable taking initiative and helping rehearsals stay on track
- Possesses strong organizational and communication skills
- Is reliable and available on Sundays throughout the program term
- Has access to reliable personal transportation
Nice to Have:
- Previous backstage management or stage management experience
- Understanding of stage direction and performance flow
- Experience coordinating volunteers or supporting arts organizations
Success in This Role: Success will be measured by the ability to ensure continuity and effective support throughout the program so that if the Director of Strategy cannot attend a rehearsal, the rehearsal still runs effectively.
Compensation: This is a volunteer position; however, there may be an opportunity to negotiate a form of reimbursement, which will be discussed during the interview process.
