Job Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accountant/Bookkeeper to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a passion for numbers, and a commitment to accuracy. As an integral part of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain Accurate Financial Records: Record and classify daily financial transactions to ensure accuracy and adherence to accounting principles.
- Prepare Financial Reports: Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Reconcile Accounts: Perform regular reconciliations of bank accounts, credit card statements, and other financial accounts.
- Budget Management: Assist with the preparation and monitoring of budgets, providing insights and recommendations to support cost control and revenue growth.
- Tax Compliance: Prepare and file tax returns to ensure compliance with Saskatchewan Finance and qualify for tobacco and fuel tax rebates.
- Audit Preparation: Assist with preparing documents and schedules for internal and external audits.
- Support Financial Planning: Collaborate with management to develop financial strategies and forecasts.
- Payroll: Input employee timesheets in the Payworks System and preparing Record of Employment for exiting employees.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles.
- Certification: CPA or equivalent certification is preferred but not required
- Technical Skills: Proficient in accounting software QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills and attention to detail in financial recordkeeping
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when necessary.
