Responsibilities:
· Perform energized live-line and hot stick work on transmission and distribution systems from 25kV to 230kV across a variety of utility and industrial client sites.
· Construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical power transmission and distribution systems, including poles, towers, conductors, cables, insulators, transformers, switches, and protective devices on both energized and de-energized systems.
· Perform conductor stringing operations for distribution and transmission circuits, including work at elevation on poles, towers, and structures.
· Operate articulated bucket trucks, digger derricks, mobile cranes, and other line equipment; helicopter operations may be required on select projects.
· Read and apply one-line diagrams, switching orders, safe work method statements, and construction standards in compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and applicable client safety requirements.
· Act as Sub-Foreman or Foreman when required, supervising crew members in accordance with IBEW Local 258 jurisdictional requirements and ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently.
Education, Training & Experience
· Qualified Red Seal Journeyman Powerline Technician — Inter-Provincial Certificate of Qualification
· Minimum Class 3 Driver's License with Air Brake endorsement and a clean driver's abstract
· Experience performing energized live-line and hot stick work on distribution and transmission systems (25kV–230kV)
· Experience with overhead and underground construction, stringing operations, and emergency restoration work
Skills & Abilities
· Thorough working knowledge of local regulations and applicable client-specific safety standards governing outside powerline work
· Proficiency with hot line tools and equipment used in energized live-line work
· Ability to read and apply one-line diagrams, switching orders, safe work method statements, and construction standards across a variety of utility and industrial clients
· Sound judgment when working on or near energized systems — you know when to stop and ask
· Valid clearance from IBEW Local 258 prior to commencing work
· Ability to work independently in remote locations and as part of a crew, including extended hours and emergency call-outs
Relocation assistance may be available up to $15,000.00 for successful candidates with a service commitment
Pay: $62.48 per hour
