Job Summary
Greenstone Mine is seeking a TMF Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Principal Engineer TMF, the TMF Technician is responsible for supporting daily operations at the Tailings Management Facility (TMF), including field inspections, instrumentation monitoring, data collection, and general site support. The role requires a balance of hands-on fieldwork and technical instrumentation tasks to ensure safe and efficient TMF operations.
Key Responsibilities
General TMF Operations
Be a courageous safety leader with a positive safety attitude, helping to ensure safe operations at the TMF.
Conduct daily inspections of the TMF to ensure safe and compliant operations.
Prepare daily inspection report with photographic records of TMF activities and organize documentation.
Operate a drone to capture site imagery as required.
Support practical mine driving training sessions, assisting employees in obtaining their driving permits.
Escort contractors working at the TMF area across site, including along haul roads when required.
Ensure all TMF signage is correctly placed and updated in response to road changes or spigot relocations. Coordinate replacement and installation of signage as required.
Assist the Tailings Engineer and Principal Engineer TMF with general operational tasks.
Perform visual inspections during critical work activities (e.g., shear key construction, dam raises, etc.).
Support TMF water management activities, including work related to the seepage collection ponds, ditches, dewatering lines, and pumps.
Carry out other TMF-related duties as assigned.
Instrumentation & Monitoring
Perform manual readings of instrumentation, including: Slope inclinometers and MSS (Multi-Point Settlement System) readings.
Download and manage instrumentation data.
Install, configure, and commission instrumentation using an Android tablet.
Install Vibrating Wire Piezometers (VWPs) in ponds as required.
Splice and repair damaged VWP cables.
Disconnect and reconnect VWPs to data loggers during annual dam raises.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues with instrumentation systems and data acquisition.
Monitor and maintain the proper functioning of field data loggers, including scheduling routine or non-routine maintenance and annual calibrations.
Update instrumentation datasets and instrumentation plots (SI, MSS, survey monuments) to support monthly instrumentation reviews.
Perform additional instrumentation-related tasks as needed.
Job Conditions
Ability to safely operate vehicles around heavy equipment and mining machinery.
Comfortable working outdoors in varied weather and environmental conditions. .
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to safety and operational accuracy, and an interest in on-going learning
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Certifications
Education
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Training will be provided; previous drone operation experience or instrumentation monitoring is an asset but not required.
The salary range for this position is from $81,628.00 to $89,315.00.
