One of our clients is currently seeking a reliable and experienced Overhead Crane Operator to join their growing team in Amherst, Nova Scotia. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting daily operations by safely moving materials, loading and unloading trailers, and assisting with overall plant efficiency.
Responsibilities
· Safely operate industrial overhead cranes to move long and narrow materials, including rebar and steel products.
· Load and unload flatbed trailers using overhead crane equipment.
· Transport materials between workstations, machines, and storage areas throughout the facility.
· Pull and prepare inventory according to customer orders and production requirements.
· Conduct pre-operational equipment inspections and promptly report any maintenance concerns.
· Complete required paperwork and operational documentation accurately.
· Inspect finished materials to ensure quality standards are met before shipment.
· Operate semi-automatic and manual machinery as required.
· Assist machine operators, forklift operators, and other team members to support production goals.
· Safely lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
· Follow all workplace health and safety procedures, including the use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Provide support to other departments and perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
· Minimum of 2 years of experience operating an overhead crane, preferably in a manufacturing, steel, or heavy industrial environment.
· Experience operating a forklift, reach truck, or tow motor is considered an asset.
· Crane certification is not required; training and certification can be provided for the right candidate.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and basic equipment maintenance knowledge.
· Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
· Ability to work efficiently and safely in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
· Dependable, punctual, and willing to take initiative.
· Ability to learn new processes quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
· Willingness to work overtime and weekends when required.
· Flexible and capable of assisting in various areas of plant operations.
Pay: $19.00-$25.00 per hour
