Maintenance Supervisor
We are currently seeking an experienced and hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to join our growing manufacturing team. This position is responsible for leading daily maintenance operations while actively supporting equipment troubleshooting, repairs, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate will provide leadership and direction to maintenance personnel while ensuring all equipment and facility maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with GMP, HACCP, CFIA, and Alberta OHS requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, coordinate, and support maintenance team members and contractors during daily operations
- Assign and prioritize preventative and corrective maintenance activities
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment
- Support production by minimizing downtime and improving equipment reliability
- Perform equipment setup, inspections, and operational verification
- Provide coaching, training, mentorship, and technical support to maintenance staff
- Support onboarding and development of new maintenance employees
- Collaborate with Production, QA, Sanitation, and leadership teams
- Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, CFIA, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and Alberta OHS requirements
- Participate in audits, inspections, hazard assessments, incident investigations, and corrective actions
- Maintain maintenance records including work orders, preventative maintenance logs, downtime tracking, and repair documentation
- Assist with inventory management, sourcing parts, and coordinating contractors/vendors
- Promote a positive team culture focused on accountability, safety, and continuous improvement
Qualifications
- Journeyman Millwright certification required
- Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in food manufacturing or industrial environments
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience in manufacturing or maintenance environments required
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Experience working with conveyors, pumps, bearings, gearboxes, motors, sensors, VFDs, and packaging equipment
- Basic PLC troubleshooting knowledge considered an asset
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, manuals, and technical drawings
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Working Conditions
- Work performed on production floors, maintenance shops, and outside premises as required
- Exposure to noise, moisture, temperature fluctuations, and cooler/freezer environments
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, lift, push, and pull throughout shifts
- PPE and company uniforms required
- Availability to respond to emergency or after-hours maintenance situations when required
