Title: Electrical Designer and Drafter
Department: Engineering
Reports to: Electrical Engineering Manager
Job Summary
The applicant will be responsible for drafting of electrical control panels including electrical motor starters, PLC systems, relay logic, instrumentation loop drawings, general control panel layouts. Applicant must be proficient in AutoCAD. Experience with AutoCAD electrical and a background in electrical engineering technology is an asset.
Work Performed
- Reading and interpreting specifications
- Drawing control panel schematics in AutoCAD for motor controls, PLC, instrumentation, industrial automation, OEM equipment.
- Drawing control panel layouts with dimensions
- Generating accurate bill of materials
- Ability to size fusing and protection
- Gathering and organizing cut/data sheet documentation
- Maintain good communication with other departments to track any changes in the project.
- Maintain a tidy and organized work environment.
- Adhere to our CSA standard when designing control panels.
Works with
- Electrical engineering manager to communicate schematic issues
- Panel assemblers to efficiently design panel layouts.
- System integrators to ensure correct automation equipment is being used.
Terms
- Full time 40 Hours per week
- Paid overtime, if needed, to meet customer service calls or project schedule requirements
- Overtime paid at time-and-a-half
- Salary – dependent upon experience

Qualifications and Work Experience
- Proficient with AutoCAD, AutoCAD electrical or similar CAD design software.
- Proficient in the Microsoft Office software platform.
- Preference given to candidate with Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience of strong attention to detail with a high focus on quality.
- Strong ability to multitask projects in various stages of the cycle.
- Must be a self-motivated, have excellent communication skills and thrive working in teams.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $23.00-$40.00 per hour
