Overview
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Part-Time Split-Shift Hourly Warehouse Person to join our Vermilion terminal team. This split-shift position supports daily freight operations by assisting with the loading, unloading, sorting, scanning, and processing of shipments in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
The successful candidate will be safety-focused, dependable, and capable of accurately handling freight while meeting operational timelines. A valid NON-GDL full Class 5 driver’s licence is required, as the position may include occasional driving duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Load and unload trailers safely and efficiently.
- Sort and organize freight according to route, service area, and destination.
- Scan and process freight accurately using handheld scanning equipment.
- Complete inbound, outbound, hold, and exception scans within required timelines.
- Identify and report damaged, missing, or missorted freight to the Operations Supervisor.
- Build, wrap, and secure skids or pallets safely for transport, as required.
- Assist with maintaining proper freight flow during morning inbound sort and afternoon outbound operations.
- Ensure freight is handled carefully to prevent damage during processing and movement.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse work area.
- Follow all company safety procedures and warehouse operating standards.
- Perform occasional driving duties as assigned, where required.
- Complete other warehouse or operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Valid NON-GDL full Class 5 driver’s licence is required.
- Previous warehouse, freight, shipping and receiving, courier, or distribution experience is considered an asset.
- Ability to work a split shift schedule, Monday through Friday.
- Ability to safely lift, move, sort, and handle freight of varying sizes and weights.
- Comfortable using handheld scanners or similar electronic devices; required training will be provided.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate freight sorting and scanning.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
- Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and proper freight handling procedures.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and lift throughout scheduled shifts.
- Ability to safely handle parcels and freight of varying weights and dimensions. (up to and including 70+lbs.)
- Ability to work in an active warehouse environment during early morning and afternoon operations.
Pay: From $20.49 per hour
