POSITION SUMMARY
As a Gardener you will play a vital role in maintaining the overall cleanliness, functionality, safety and aesthetic appeal of the outdoor spaces. You will work independently and as part of a team to ensure the resort grounds, including lawns, gardens, walkways, roadways, recreational spaces and outdoor seating areas are well manicured, visually appealing and conducive to an exceptional guest experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Garden Maintenance: Regularly tend to the resort's gardens, shrubs, trees and hardscape elements. Including planting, watering, weeding, pruning and fertilizing to ensure optimal plant health and growth. Prepare gardens for seasonal changes such as protecting sensitive plants from frost, cutting back perennials and clearing leaves and debris.
Landscape Maintenance: Perform routine landscaping maintenance tasks including mowing, edging, weeding, trimming, planting, mulching and watering.
Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain vehicles and groundskeeping equipment such as lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers and hand tools safely and effectively. Clean and store equipment to ensure they are in good condition
Guest Interaction: Interact with guests in a friendly and helpful manner, offering information about resort amenities, directions and other inquiries.
Teamwork: Work collaboratively with other team members and departments to accomplish shared goals and deliver exceptional service to guests.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience in gardening, landscaping, horticulture, or grounds maintenance is preferred; entry-level candidates with a strong interest in gardening and outdoor work will be considered
Hands-on experience with planting, pruning, weeding, mulching, watering, and general garden care
Experience using hand tools and basic landscaping equipment such as shovels, pruners, rakes, wheelbarrows, mowers, trimmers, or blowers is an asset
Experience working outdoors in varying weather conditions and performing physically demanding tasks for extended periods
Ability to follow daily work plans, seasonal maintenance schedules, and safety procedures
Experience working as part of a team to maintain landscaped areas to a high standard
Prior experience in a resort, hotel, park, golf course, or public-facing environment is considered an asset
Awareness of guest presence and presentation standards, with the ability to work professionally around guests
