Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Childcare Cook to prepare nutritious and appealing meals for children in our care. This role is vital in supporting the health and well-being of children by providing high-quality food service within a safe and hygienic environment. Duties
- Prepare and serve balanced, nutritious meals and snacks suitable for children’s dietary requirements
- Follow approved menus and recipes to ensure consistency and quality in meal preparation
- Handle food safely, adhering to all health and safety regulations to prevent contamination or spoilage
- Assist with food handling, storage, and inventory management to ensure proper stock levels
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen areas, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and disposing of waste appropriately
- Ensure all food served meets safety standards and complies with relevant regulations
- Support meal planning that accommodates special dietary needs or allergies when necessary
- Collaborate with childcare staff to coordinate meal times and ensure smooth service
Skills
- Proven experience in serving, food preparation, cooking, or food handling within a restaurant or food industry setting
- Knowledge of food safety practices and proper kitchen hygiene procedures
- Ability to prepare meals efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation
- Familiarity with meal planning and understanding of nutritional guidelines for children
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in following recipes and safety protocols
- Excellent time management skills to ensure timely meal service during busy periods
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment and communicate effectively with staff members
