A2627-06 Assistant Principal - Nelson Heights School
Northern Lights Public Schools is seeking a full-time Assistant Principal (1.0 FTE) for Nelson Heights School commencing with the start of the 2026-2027 school year. The division is seeking a dedicated and caring leader who will support the Principal to create a welcoming learning environment where all students learn and excel. Nelson Heights School is located in the City of Cold Lake with approximately 250 students in Grades 4 to 6. With a continued focus on academics, moral intelligence, athletics, and fine arts, Nelson Heights School provides a well rounded program that will nurture students through their formative years.
Reporting directly to the Principal, the successful candidate will:
- Ensure effective educational programming and school activities for students
- Develop and nurture a positive, supportive and inclusive school culture
- Assist the Principal to provide effective instructional leadership to school staff
- Work collaboratively with division office staff, the school admin team and staff, students and the School Council to achieve the goals of the school and the division
- Assist the Principal effectively manage school operations and resources
- Nurture strong relationships with students, staff, parents and the school community
- Teach courses that may be assigned by the Principal
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Possess a valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Proven excellence as a classroom teacher and commitment to student success
- Possess or be eligible to achieve the Alberta Leadership Quality Standards Certificate
- Previous school administration experience is an asset
- The ability to work effectively with diverse student and parent groups
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Commitment to lifelong learning and professional improvement
- A strong background in leadership skills and effective instructional practices
