Summary:
DMC is currently looking for a Intermediate Engineer, Process Controls to join our team on a permanent basis, based in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The Intermediate Engineer, Process Controls will be responsible for he design of process network, automation, and instrumentation systems for applications in the mining and industrial sectors. The process network architecture and topology designs, industrial PLC/HMI/DCS/SCADA panel designs, installation package development (which may include bill of materials, cable pull lists, termination schedules, general arrangement drawings, cable block drawings, etc), basic control system drawings & documentation (instrument loop drawings, specifications, and data sheets), and more complex documents (equipment specifications, installation specifications, scope of work documents). The intermediate engineer will produce design packages by directly developing documentation and utilizing a design team made up of intermediate and junior team members for drafting and drawing development. The intermediate engineer will be responsible for subsequent control system programming, and commissioning, based on project requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Develop electrical and controls system design solutions based on engineering principles, standards, procedures, and guidelines.
- Sealing of drawings and documentation for control system designs
- Develop PLC programs following previously approved control narrative documentation
- Integrate communications into the PLC such as Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet IP and Devicenet
- Commissioning control systems on site
- Resolve operational problems related to instrumentation and control systems
- Provide technical support to construction and procurement groups
- Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed.
- Prepare drawing packages, reports and design-build verification
- Provide electrical crews assistance with layout and drawing interpretation
- Provide updated as built and planning drawings to all required parties, as required
- Other project work as and when required
Qualifications:
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of Ontario.
- Must have experience leading design development for control systems for heavy industrial sectors.
- Must have experience with PLC Programming.
- Must possess experience with AutoCAD, Excel and Word.
- Experience with the development of PLC/HMI programs from PLC manufacturers such as Siemens and Allen Bradley.
- Preference given to experience with underground mining infrastructure including hoisting, shaft sinking, and mine shaft sensors, controls and limits.
- Ability to work on your own and manage projects/ work with a team.
- Bachelor’s Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- The successful management of projects from start to completion.
