Overview
We are seeking a friendly and organized Optometric Assistant/Receptionist to join our eye care team. Position, responsibilities, and hours can be adjusted for the right candidate. This role is vital in providing exceptional patient care, managing front desk operations, and supporting clinical staff. The ideal candidate will have experience in a medical office setting, familiarity with electronic medical records, direct submission to insurance companies, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer care. Prior optical or medical health experience is a plus, along with knowledge of medical terminology and pediatric patient care. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly and efficiently check them in and out at the front desk
- Schedule appointments and manage patient flow using electronic medical records systems such as VisualEyes.
- Verify insurance information and process billing accordingly
- Assist patients with completing necessary paperwork and documentation
- Prepare exam rooms and assist the clinical team.
- Maintain accurate patient records, update medical histories, and document clinical notes
- Handle phone inquiries, appointment confirmations, and follow-up communications
- Assist with frame and lens selection if qualified to do so
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the reception area and exam rooms
Skills
- Prior experience in a medical office environment is highly preferred
- Familiarity with electronic medical records systems such as VisualEyes or similar platforms
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to eye care and general healthcare practices
- Excellent patient care skills with a friendly, professional demeanor
- Experience working at the front desk, managing schedules, and handling administrative tasks efficiently
- Optical experience or background in health care is advantageous
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse patient populations, including pediatrics
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accurate record keeping and billing processes

Pay: $17.00-$21.00 per hour
