We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Mental Health Worker to provide therapeutic intervention and mental health support within our North Vancouver residential programs. This role is ideal for a clinically minded professional who is passionate about helping children and youth build coping skills, emotional regulation, and long-term stability.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Mental Health Worker leads the implementation of client-focused, evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children and youth presenting with complex mental health, developmental, and behavioural needs. This role provides individual, family, and group support; assists with service planning; collaborates closely with internal clinical leadership; and works alongside community professionals to ensure continuity of care.
What You’ll Do
Therapeutic Intervention & Clinical Support

Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions and behavioural support strategies

Provide individual, family, and group counselling support
-
Conduct crisis intervention and assist with case management planning
-
Support clients in developing emotional regulation, coping skills, and adaptive behaviours
-
Reinforce goals outlined in individualized service plans and behavioural support plans
Client Development & Community Integration
-
Identify and build on client strengths to improve confidence and functioning
-
Plan and participate in community outings that support life skill development
-
Support clients in improving communication, relationships, and social interaction
-
Follow up on psychiatric and psychological recommendations as required
Collaboration & Consultation
-
Work closely with the Clinical Manager, consulting psychologist, Director of Client Services, and multidisciplinary professionals

Liaise with families, schools, psychiatrists, social workers, and other community supports
-
Coach and support frontline staff on intervention techniques and therapeutic strategies
Documentation & Program Participation

Complete incident reports, treatment documentation, communication logs, and daily notes
-
Monitor service plan goals and client progress
-
Participate actively in team meetings and case reviews

Assist with household/program duties as required
What You Bring
Education & Experience
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Education, Behavioural Sciences, or a related field

Minimum 3 years of recent experience supporting children and youth with psychiatric, mental health, or behavioural challenges in residential or community settings

Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and therapeutic behavioural intervention
Knowledge & Skills

Working knowledge of DSM diagnoses and related treatment approaches

Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Mental Health Act, Hospital Act, and Child, Family and Community Service Act

Experience managing challenging behaviours and using de-escalation strategies

Ability to remain calm, regulated, and therapeutic in high-stress situations

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Strong collaborative approach with multidisciplinary teams and community partners

Proficiency with Microsoft Word and clinical documentation
Requirements

Valid First Aid & CPR Certification (Training provided for those who require this)

MANDT Certification (Training provided for those who require this)

Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence
