Thunder Bay Pulp & Paper is a leading northern bleached softwood kraft producer. Located on Lake Superior, the Thunder Bay mill has been a landmark company of northwestern Ontario since 1919. Your challenges:
The Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for providing supervision and direction to unionized mill maintenance personnel and external maintenance contractors to work in a safe and productive manner to maximize quality and production while minimizing production and maintenance costs and unscheduled downtime. The ideal candidate for this existing vacancy will possess the drive and passion to continuously improve upon the health and safety, efficiency, production and maintenance cost targets for the site.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the facility operates in full compliance with all health, safety, and environmental laws and regulations ensuring all employees are held accountable for our safety and environmental systems.
- ·Ensure company policies and values are implemented and maintained throughout the organization and all legal requirements are met.
- Lead a unionized team in optimizing maintenance as well as coordinate schedule routine and preventative maintenance functions by tradespersons.
- Work closely with operating departments and planners to complete mechanical maintenance.
- Mentor and coach employees through active observation and provide feedback.
Your profile:
- Candidates should have a Mechanical Engineering Degree, Diploma, red seal trade or at least 2 years of experience supervising unionized trades within an industrialized manufacturing setting.
- Excellent communicator, insightful, self-aware, and able to listen to employees and integrate feedback into the operations. Strong belief in continuous improvement.
- Proficient analytical skills required as well as a strong background in MS Office, MS Project. Previous experience with a CMMS would be an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Candidates must be able to legally work in Canada at the time of applying for the position.
